The National Evaluation Policy Framework (2011) sets out the basis for government-wide evaluation focusing on governments priority outcomes. It is intended to establish a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery. The implementation evaluation of the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme is part of the National Evaluation Plan for 2012/13.

The Communal Land Tenure Bill (CLTB) of 2017 was a draft bill in South Africa that aimed to regulate communal land and provide security of tenure. The bill was intended to address the legacy of land insecurity and inequality that resulted from apartheid. The goals of the bill were to provide the right to use state-owned land for community members; register communal land; establish general plans for communal land; provide comparable redress; establish land rights inquiries; acquire more land for communal use; establish household forums for communities.
