This was an evaluation undertaken independently by the Public Service Commission (PSC) with cooperation of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) on the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme that is one of the programmes under the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CASP).

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform published the Green Paper on Land Reform in the Government Gazette on 30 September 2011. This Green Paper seeks to break away from the past, without significantly impacting on food production and security.

The Communal Land Tenure Bill (CLTB) of 2017 was a draft bill in South Africa that aimed to regulate communal land and provide security of tenure. The bill was intended to address the legacy of land insecurity and inequality that resulted from apartheid. The goals of the bill were to provide the right to use state-owned land for community members; register communal land; establish general plans for communal land; provide comparable redress; establish land rights inquiries; acquire more land for communal use; establish household forums for communities.
