This act was enacted to provide for measures with State assistance to facilitate long-term security of land tenure; to regulate the conditions of residence on certain land; to regulate the conditions on and circumstances under which the right of persons to reside on land may be terminated; and to regulate the conditions and circumstances under which persons, whose right of residence has been terminated, may be evicted from land; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) provides financial and technical assistance and supports infrastructure development, market access, and training. It aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve food security.

The Settlement and Implementation Support (SIS) Strategy was a post-settlement strategy for land reform in South Africa. The SIS Strategy was designed to achieve equitable land ownership among South African citizens and to support the Land Reform Programme, which was initiated in 1994.

The Proactive Land Acquisition Strategy is a strategic land reform intervention that involves the acquisition of land and other property (movable and immovable) that is then held by the state for the use by lessees of the programme. They will then enter into a long term lease with the Department – the length of the lease will depend on the land use, the commodity and the intention of the lessee, among other things.
